With the rain we are getting the nursery will open at 11:00 am on Tuesday morning.  We may need to close for the entire day depending on how much rain we get.  Before you drive out please check our weather blog as we will update in the morning.

It has rained overnight in Shelton and continues to rain.  If you are new to the place, please know we are open air.  You will get rained on under our shade fabric.  There is and will be standing water in the facility.  We will be open today trying to catch up on paperwork and believe it or not we will begin to plan and order for next year.  

If you decide to shop today, bring your umbrella and your water boots or shoes!!  There seriously is no good reason to shop today UNLESS YOU WANT TO TRY YOUR LUCK AT THE RUBBER DUCKY TANK.  

If conditions change and the weather looks more severe with a threat of violent weather we certainly might close.  We will post here if conditions change.

We will be open tomorrow.  If it pours rain we might close long enough to allow the property to drain.  Bring your umbrella.  We are open air.

Rain showers this morning will not affect us in any way.  The facility has drained from yesterday's rain and we are dry for the most part with the exception of a few tiny puddles.  We will be open today from 9am to 7pm.  We still have a nice selection of bump up pots to choose from, lots of succulents and our main run on vegetables will be this coming weekend and that will only hold true if the garden dries out enough to plant vegetables.

I suppose it is never a good thing for flower sales to get rain on Mother's Day weekend but here we are in 2024 and a rainy Sunday  WE WILL BE OPEN ALL DAY TODAY FROM 9 TO 7. 

Please remember we are Open Air.  It means what it says and if it rains you will get wet under our shade fabric roofs.  Bring your umbrella and your mucking boots!

If it rains a lot we will have some pools of standing water.

The storm today was not really a storm.  Hyped up and over promoted but OK with me.  We got a bit more rain.

The week of weather looks good through Mother's Day.  If you see no new posts from this date and time assume we are open 9 am to 7 pm every day.   If something changes I will post here and update.

Another Monday has arrived and again some weather challenges.  Looking at the weather channel hourly forecast it appears they believe we will have severe weather during the 2:00 to 5:00 pm window.  During this time it is highly likely we will hail protect every crop on the place.  Hail protecting takes us about 20 minutes and that's fine if we get a notice that there is hail coming BUT one year the hail started right here in sunny Shelton, Nebraska and we had no warning.  Because of this we are very cautious this time of year and we will cover early.  If I assess on radar that a storm is coming, we will cover.  If you are here during that time, I strongly advise that you leave immediately for your safety.  Kelli and I and our help will not stay at this location!  Please don't let the tornado whistle blow while you are here because there simply is no place of protection.  Last week, while I was rolling covers a lady tried to lift the cover.  Please, please, please don't be this lady.  

My best suggestion is to avoid shopping during the 2 to 5:00 pm window.

We have had rain in Shelton but will plan to be open regular hours today.  9 am to 7 pm.  We will have some pools of standing water that should be gone by noon.  Bring your mucking boots if you come before dinner and don't want to get your feet wet.

On April 29th, 2024 we will open at 11:00 am due to the frost advisory issued on Sunday afternoon.

Again we will open at 11:00 am on Monday April 29th.

 Weather channel has reduced the chance for rain down to 6 and 8 percent.  Looks like a breeze, 50 degree day and we will be open all day.

According to the weather channel it appears the rain chances on Sunday begin to diminish by 3:00 pm.  I would love to complain about the rain but I just can't do it.  The drought over the past few years has caused us grief and the rain will too BUT I must say I'll take the rain over the drought any day.

We plan to be open on Sunday during regular hours 9a to 7p but if it is pouring rain we may close to allow the property to drain.  If we close we will immediately post here and you are always welcome to call Kelli or me and ask what the conditions are.  Our phone numbers are found on the contact page.

 All locations are open today.  Check the web site www.bumpuppot.com and the location tabs found across the top of the page for hours open.

As far as I can tell from monitoring the weather channel app, it appears the rain chances will start around 5:00.  I can tell you it was much warmer at 7:00 am than it is now at 9:00 am.  All locations will be open all day AND WE WILL POST ON THIS BLOG IF THOSE PLANS CHANGE.

I can tell you this: If we get a notification on our phone that there is hail in our vicinity and coming our way, we will cover our plants to protect them.  Yesterday, a warning was issued for 60 mph winds and quarter size hail and as I was rolling covers, some lady tried to lift it back up.  I understand people drive a distance to get here but I must cover and protect our crop.  If a warning is issued you must leave and find protection because you, me, my wife, and my help will not stay here for all of our safety.

Weather channel shows our greatest chance of rain in Shelton to be the 2:00 to 5:00 window.  We have had ample rain in Shelton over night and there will be some standing water at the Shelton location so I strongly advise you to wear your mucking boots or whatever you call them.  I would also pack an umbrella just in case this rare rain event would continue.  I will not under any circumstances cuss the rain as we have needed it for many, many months.

Odessa locations and Aurora locations are all on concrete - shop till you drop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Odessa location: Open 10 am to 7:00 pm

Aurora location: Open 8:00 am to 6:00 pm

Shelton location: Open 9:00 am to 7:00 pm

Posting at 7:00 am on Thursday morning, April 25.

With the rain chances this week and into the weekend we will plan to be open at all times, HOWEVER, if it pours rain that results in standing water in our facility we may close for 30 minutes to allow it to filter out of the store.  We will update with all changes to our hours open.

 Due to the cold we will open at 10:00 am on Sunday morning rather than 9:00 am. 

Saturday April 20th, 2024

Opening for the thirty-third year on April 20th, 2024.  Today, the Shelton location will open at 10:00 am due to the freeze warning that has been issued.

Lucky Stop Bump Up Pot Odessa location will run different hours than Shelton.  Their hours will be from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Saturday and on Sunday will run from 12 noon to 6:00 pm.

Please, please, please check here if it is cold or raining for instant updates as to the conditions here in Shelton.  Me may close early or open late due to the weather.
