April 30th, 11:36 AM

Nothing worse than closing the Saturday before Mother's Day.  We will be closed all day today on Saturday April 30th.  We will open tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM.  The wind is blowing so hard it is dangerous to be here.  The safety of our shopper and our employees is paramount.  Maintaining the quality of our product is also important to us.  There will be better weather days and hope to see you then.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

We have fared better than Andover, KS so there are things to be grateful for!

April 30th, 6:47 AM

Tough decisions.  We are closed until noon today.  At noon we will reassess the weather conditions and decide if we will open for the balance of the day.  We apologize for any inconvenience and want you to know why we have made this decision.

1.  We must protect our product from 50 mph winds.  It beats it to crap and it's one week before Mother's Day.  We must protect the quality of our crop.

2.  We need to stock product to the highway.  I don't pay kids enough money to ride on a tractor, in the rain, in 50 mph winds.  I would never expect them to do that for me.  If I was 16 and the boss told me we're going to get soaking wet and then drive down the road on a cab less tractor in 50 mph winds, I'd tell him to go pound sand.  I want to keep the kids that work for me healthy.  Don't need no sickness!

3.  If we move product in this wind, it breaks the zip ties that hold our tags on.  We lose our pricing pricing.

We will update this blog at 11:45 today to state our intentions for afternoon.

This has been a tough year.  I'm going home and plant melons, squash, and cucumbers and hope that we will have better days in the very near future.  We are pleased that it rained!

April 29th, 7:04 PM

As I sit here Friday night and type this the forecast for Saturday says:

Rain showers early, then remaining overcast and windy later in the day.  High 56F.  Winds NW at 25-35 mph.  Chance of rain 40%.  Winds could occasionally gust over 50 mph.

Our plan for Saturday April 30th is to be open, BUT, if you are driving from a distance please check this blog often.  If we decide to close due to high winds or pouring rain we will update right here so you will immediately know.  You can always call 308-390-0159 Clark or 308-390-0158 Kelli to find out our intentions.  If the winds become very strong, 50 mph or more, we will close.  We will not jeopardize product quality because of the wind.

If you intend to shop, realize we are open air!  Bring an umbrella and shoes you can get wet.  If it rains hard, our walkways will hold water for 20 minutes after it stops.  We drain quickly but it might be wet.

We are currently getting a very nice rain.  First time I have seen water in our parking lot for months.  I think spring might be arriving.

Call with questions.  Hope to see you soon.

April 27th, 11:47 PM

The Shelton and Aurora locations are fully stocked with product.  Regarding the forecast for the weekend, we plan to be open.  The rain chance looks good but rain will, most likely, not close the store.  It is open air.  Bring an umbrella and your rain shoes.  If it pours rain and the forecast is for it to pour rain all day it is possible we will close.  If we do decide to close we will post it here immediately.

April 26, 6:43 AM

The forecast is for 45 degrees by 9:00 am so we will plan to open on schedule.  Our hours today will be our regular hours of 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.  We are moving product to the Aurora store today.  Vegetables, 2.5 quart product and 4 inch annuals will be moved today.  By noon on Wednesday, April 27th, we hope to have the Aurora store pretty packed up.

The Shelton location will have vegetables moved to our retail site by Wednesday afternoon.  Most everything else is currently stocked at the Shelton location.

The ten day forecast looks better?  The chance for rain is better and I don't see any 60 mph winds forecast so hey, it's looking better.

April 24, 6:04 PM

We have closed for the night.  We will open late on Monday April 25 due to cold temps.  We will try to be open by 11:00 AM on April 25.  We will potentially close early on Monday to freeze protect plants and will likely open late on Tuesday morning.  Updates will be posted as the forecast becomes clear.

Thank you.
